As you may already know, the Spanish government has approved an aid package for solar panel grants, setting aside up to 1,320 million euros in 2021 (Royal Decree 477/202). This plan consists of a nationwide distribution of investment to promote self-consumption, storage, and air conditioning installations with renewable energies.
But why is this a good idea for us ordinary citizens? Because it shows us that this is the best possible time to invest in solar panel installations, which will also help us to take advantage of 100% clean and environmentally-friendly energy.
How do these grants work?
The first thing you need to know about these solar panel grants is that they’re the first ones that have been allocated specifically for photovoltaic self-consumption and storage at a national level by the Spanish government. That is why this is such good news! It shows that whether you are a private home or a business, now is the best time to start saving by creating your own energy.
You must also take into account that the money will be distributed directly to the Autonomous Communities, and, subsequently, each Autonomous Community will be responsible for taking on these grants and adapting them for local use. If you have any questions about the type of subsidy chosen in your region, don’t hesitate to contact us and we will inform you about everything you need to know.
In addition, the amount of aid will vary according to the beneficiary and the type of installation. Companies will receive a percentage of the initial investment (subject to a maximum figure), whereas individuals and public administrations will receive a fixed percentage or amount in euros. Finally, beneficiaries from municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants will receive an additional 10% of their allocation.
How much are the grants?
It can be a bit confusing to talk about figures because it really depends on many different factors: the type of beneficiary, and the size and type of the installation. However, we can give you an idea about approximate percentages that will help you see what you will save if you choose to install solar panels now. Let’s see them!
Companies
In the case of solar panels, the grants would start at 15% for a large company and would range from 25% to 45% for an SME with a photovoltaic installation of less than 10 kW:
Companies will also be able to benefit from subsidies when they incorporate energy storage into their existing renewable energy self-consumption facilities.
Eligible costs will be 45% for large companies, 55% for medium-sized companies and 65% for small companies (for less than 10 kWh):
Private individuals
Furthermore, private individuals may benefit from €600 per kWh for a self-consumption photovoltaic installation of less than 10 kW, with this grant increasing where collective self-consumption is carried out in a residential building:
In addition to this, grants are also offered for the incorporation of storage systems in photovoltaic installations that have already been set up in residential homes, which amount to €490 per kWh of storage if the storage is less than 10 kWh:
Who can benefit from these subsidies? Everyone can!
This is the best part of all! These solar panel grants are aimed at small, medium and large companies, as well as individuals who want to install solar panels.
So yes, whatever your profile, you certainly can apply for your grant, and reduce how much you will have to pay for solar self-consumption. Would you like more information? Ask us whatever you need!
